Meet tm
Construction

You know what they say– two (and a crew) is better than one.

Henry Thomas and Troy Morris of TM Construction are a testament to one of your favorite story arcs– industry competitors to business partners. In September of 2024, Mountain Construction [est. 2020] and Ponderosa Construction [est. 2022] merged into one entity, TM Construction, and both of these owners agree they are better for it.

When Morris and Thomas recount their business beginnings, it's with playful jest. The two contractors began on similar career paths, both serving Kittitas County and both bidding for the same kinds of jobs. While Morris with Mountain Construction mostly centered on custom homes and high-end residential projects, and Thomas with Ponderosa veered on the commercial and historic reconstruction side of things, there was still enough overlap for not only a healthy dose of competition, but also the opportunity to recognize the potential of working together.

In 2023, Ponderosa bid for the reconstruction of the historic Fitterer’s building, located in downtown Ellensburg. Thomas realized that if he got the job, he would need more manpower to complete the project by the requested timeline. He thought of Morris’ team who was working on the Fitterer family’s residential property at the time. Kismet. Thomas asked Morris if they could join forces for Fitterer’s and that collaboration led to a better acquaintance and advocacy between them. Over several months, their coffee conversations of shared values and team ups evolved to the decision to merge their two companies– combining power and expanding bandwidth.

Troy and Henry didn’t just decide one day to go into business together. The partnership grew out of a mutual respect for each other's ethics and skill sets. The two craftsmen share a desire to serve their community with the best services possible and to operate a high-quality operation, with integrity and innovation. They realized that by combining their strengths, they could create something far greater than what they could achieve on their own.
